As an associate at Singh Lamarche LLP, Emily assists employers and employees with a wide array of workplace issues that may arise at any point in the employment relationship. From contract contemplation to termination, and everything in between, Emily provides tailored advice to her clients. Emily believes in advocating vigorously for her clients’ best interest, and is always prepared to do so in court. However, she also appreciates that in many circumstances the best results for her clients can be achieved through negotiated resolutions. Emily adopts a very pragmatic approach in the way she advances each of her clients’ cases, evaluating which direction makes the most sense given the facts, always with a view of achieving the best possible result.
Client focused, Emily understands that her clients are often experiencing extremely stressful situations and recognizes that the outcome of a case can have a tremendous impact on her client and their families. As a result, she ensures that she is available to her clients, open and transparent about how and what she is doing to advance her clients’ case, and is timely in the work she performs.
Emily’s analytical abilities go well beyond those of most employment law practitioners. This is attributable to her post-secondary studies in mathematics. As a result of her specialized background, she is adept in assessing the factors that will affect a case, which in turn enables her to help her clients make sound strategic decisions. This analytical skillset is also put to use in Emily’s workplace investigation practice, where she is able to make objective determinations on workplace environments and conditions, both in the public and private sectors.
Emily has always been passionate about workplace law and safeguarding the rights of her clients. Prior to joining Singh Lamarche LLP, Emily worked in the Toronto office of a national labour and employment law firm where she gained invaluable experience, and started to develop a reputation for being a strong and effective advocate.
Outside of the office Emily enjoys being active, whether playing sports with friends or working out. Emily takes every opportunity to travel to new cities to experience the local cultures and cuisines.
